Species
Atlantic Blue Marlin are the most sought-after fish that are found in the ocean depths surrounding the Azores. The average weight is over 500 lbs but many weighing over 800 lbs are caught every year. Giant Bluefin Tuna have been caught in recent years, although they cannot be relied upon to visit us every year.

The gorgeous White Marlin are renowned for their acrobatic performance when trying to shake free of the hooks. They are beautiful and aggressive little marlin and put up an excellent fight on suitable lighter tackle.

Bigeye, yellow fin tuna and albacore put up a lively fight - good sport on any tackle - but cannot be relied upon to show up every year. Hammerheads, mako, six gill and blue sharks make for good fishing when encountered. Swordfish may be caught at night with baits. Spear fish may also be encountered. Smaller gamefish, such as bluefish, Atlantic bonito, wahoo and dorado are often caught but also rarely targeted.
