Captain Ian Carter
Originally from South Africa Ian has been running Xácara in the Azores since 1998.
He also has many years experience as Captain on sport fishing boats in Ghana, Ascension Island and the Cape Verde Islands.
When not fishing, Ian likes to fly microlights and he and Sian spend a few weeks each year touring Europe by motorbike.

Marty Bates

Marty is from North Island, New Zealand. He has been fishing and messing around in boats all his life and has crewed on big game sport fishing boats in New Zealand, Australia, the Azores, Ghana, Ascension Island, Cape Verdes and Panama. Ian and Marty first teamed up together in Ghana, more years ago than either cares to remember, and fished together for many seasons in Ascension and aboard Xacara in the Azores. He now has a captain's license and operates a sport fishing boat in Mindelo, Cape Verdes. He is the father of a gorgeous baby girl, Maja. It is great to have the old team, the A Team, back together again.
Sian Carter
Ian's wife Sian was born in Zimbabwe but grew up in Zambia and South Africa. She is an essential part of the charter operation keeping the wheels turning and everything organized on land while the rest of us are having fun at sea.
